Oh! The places you'll go...says Seuss...

Marriage is a big huge ball of wax.
You cannot cut it with an axe.
You cannot put it into a stack.
So just sit back folks, and try to relax...
These are what I call the "marriage facts."

Marriage is a very crazy thing,
No one knows just how it all begins...
One day you're single and free,
The next day you're sitting in a tree,
---K-I-S-S-I-N-G.

The feeling of love is a scarey one
Nobody knows just quite how it's done...
Sure the mystery of it can be fun,
But when it is all really said and done,
People in love are no longer lonely ones.

Scratching my back, I'm scratching yours too,
That is what married people do!
Going to a play, or swimming in the pool,
"We can do whatever we want to do,
so marry me soon," says the Mayor of Who.

"But to marry is scarey," says the silly subbie girl...
"You've got my heart pounding and my head in a whirl!"
She runs and hides and tries to concur...while the
Mayor of Who says, "I want to give you the world,"
"so don't be scared silly little subbie girl."

Slowly but surely, inch by tiny inch,
Silly subbie girl peeks out and gives him a pinch...
"Ouch" says the lovestruck Mayor-of-Who,
"what in the world are you trying to do?"
Says she so meekly, "Please do not be TOO good to me."

"I need to feel safe, I need to feel secure,
Of this marriage idea, I need to be sure
That it is unfettered, simple and pure...
I just want ours to be one divorce fewer,
I don't want to throw 40 years into the sewer."

Mayor says, "Oh silly subbie girl of mine,
I wish I could tie you up in some twine,
and take you to my home where you will be mine...
I will give you safe, I will give you secure,
Of this I promise, of this you can be sure."

The two dance around in love under the sun,
The future promises them both that it will be fun!
But marriage takes work too, sometimes a TON...
Effort, commitment, determination and buns...
Buns you say? Of course you need buns!

To kick each other in, when the going gets tough.
To smack each other on, when the going gets rough.
To kiss and fondle and sit on in peace,
To moon at the Grinch when he eats the roast beast...
But mostly my friends, this you should know:

Marriage and love will help both people to grow.
