What a bummer. I woke up this morning to receive an email from one of the two guys living in the DC home where I lived before moving to Pittsburgh. He's decided to move out, and gave me his 30 day notice. Now I have to find TWO people to move in, ASAP. This "on-site landlord" gig is a pain in the patoot. The timing of this is really NOT the best for me to deal with, to say the least.
So, I have to go back to DC this weekend, but I also have to pack more stuff at my current house in Pittsburgh this weekend, because we only have 4.5 weeks left before we're supposed to move into our new house. BLEAH.
Pete suggested that we go this weekend, but how would we get any packing done then? I guess the best thing to do is pack all day Saturday and Sunday, then I will just go alone, and head to DC Sunday afternoon, and stay through Tuesday. That way I can put "for rent" signs up around the place, get people to come over and see it, bring leases with me and just try to get it done ASAP. I don't know if I will succeed at finding two people that quickly, but I can at least try.
We were just saying last night that a trip to DC might be a good thing to do before we move, so I guess this kills two birds with one stone, as they say. But Pete can do more packing while I'm gone, and I will get some of my stuff packed before I go too, which seems to me to be the best use of time.
We STILL don't have a lease signed yet for this new house, though, and we're getting nervous about it. I don't know why the hell it's taking so long. These homeowners obviously don't have much know-how when it comes to doing a rent-to-own lease agreement, so I'm sure they're doing some research and/or consulting legal advice, etc., which is probably why it's taking more time.
Anyway, it'll be a busy weekend. The dishwasher in the DC house is on the fritz too, so I may have to deal with having a repairman come while I'm there too. Fun fun. Of course I want to go do some shopping at my favorite thrift store, get my hair done at my favorite hair dresser, and possibly have lunch with my friend Allen and/or with Peter, if he's available and can handle seeing me again. I think it would be helpful for me to have some closure, seeing him face-to-face one last time. But, he hasn't answered me about the idea yet. I hope he will soon.
So we drove to Rochester NY Tuesday night to spend all day Wednesday moving Pete's two kids and their spouses into new apartments. I'm sore and tired today. We got back very late last night and I was up half the night with acid reflux too. Yuck. I hope I don't have some medical issue going on that I don't know about. I need to get to a doctor...maybe I should make an appointment with the DC doctor again, since she won't give me anymore of my diabetic medications without seeing me again. Hag. I don't have a doctor yet here in Pittsburgh, so I haven't been taking my meds very much at all for quite some time.
Anyway, Pete & I had a funny thought last week, that made us both laugh hysterically: why the hell didn't Sonny Bono just FALL OVER while skiing on that hill, why the heck did he just smack into a tree like that, and die? What an idiot. All he had to do was fall over, for cripes' sake. Ah well, who knows why anything happens really. It's all just chaos.
Bye for now. Love, Sassy Girl
